In the state of Florida, anyone who wants to run for office can have their name printed on the ballot either by paying a qualifying fee or by submitting ballot petitions. A ballot petition is neither an endorsement nor a vote — it simply allows me to be one of the candidates printed on the ballot.
ANY registered voter in Sarasota County can submit a petition – it doesn’t matter what party you are registered with.
The qualifying fee (without submitting ballot petitions) for the office I am seeking is $1,740.32. The county is requiring 3,401 petitions this year for any person running for the Sarasota County School Board.
Ballot petitions cost only $0.10 per petition to process, thus the total cost to qualify via ballot petitions is $340.10. Qualifying via ballot petitions saves our campaign $1,400.22 which we could use to get our campaign messages out to county voters.
You can contact my campaign via email if you have any questions about this process. Our email address is: email@example.com.
We ask that you help us gather as many petitions as possible by getting your friends, neighbors, family, coworkers, etc., to complete petitions and mail them back to us. If you would like to volunteer with or donate to my campaign.
Please be sure you fill out the petition completely…do NOT forget to enter the date (highlighted in yellow) after your signature. If it is not dated it can not be submitted to the Supervisor of Elections
Also, “non partisan” is checked, this is NOT your party affiliation so please leave it checked! Thank you so much for your help with this!
